The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven persons in a coordinated operation aimed at curbing narcotic drug peddling and related criminal activities in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region.

The suspects, Robert Kobbina, Abu Issifu, Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah were arrested on Saturday, December 13, 2025, during an intelligence-led swoop conducted by the police.

According to the police, the operation began at a known narcotic drug base at Effutu, where Robert Kobbina and Abu Issifu were arrested.

A search conducted on Kobbina led to the retrieval of assorted narcotic substances and related items, including sachets and tablets of timaking, Tdrona, royal fart, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tobacco products, lighters, and several packs of assorted cigarettes.

The operation was later extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, areas identified by the police as drug peddling hotspots within the metropolis.

At Poly Amisano, the police arrested Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.

A search at a drinking spot operated by Janet Mensah resulted in the retrieval of large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco products, lighters, and three jackpot gaming machines.

An additional four jackpot machines were also retrieved during further operations at Nkanfoa.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while police say further action will be taken in accordance with the law.

The Central Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations to clamp down on drug-related crimes and other illegal activities in the region.
