Majority of Ghanaians say country is on the right path under Mahama – Global InfoAnalytics poll

A new national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that majority of Ghanaians believe the country is moving in the right direction, reflecting continued public confidence in the governance of President John Dramani Mahama.

The survey, conducted between December 1 and December 21, 2025, found that 66 per cent of voters say Ghana is headed on the right path, while 24 per cent believe the country is moving in the wrong direction. About 10 per cent of respondents expressed no opinion. According to the findings, voters across all 16 regions share the view that the nation is progressing positively.

On presidential performance, President Mahama recorded a 67 per cent approval rating, unchanged from the previous quarter, while disapproval edged up slightly to 24 per cent. The poll indicates that approval of the President’s performance spans all regions, including traditional strongholds of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Despite the overall positive outlook, the survey highlights pronounced partisan divides. An overwhelming 93 per cent of supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) approve of the President’s performance, compared with just 28 per cent of NPP supporters. Among NPP voters, 61 per cent disapprove. Floating voters, however, showed strong support, with 69 per cent approving of the President’s job performance.

The poll, titled National Tracking Poll: Governance and Performance Part One, was released on December 29, 2025, by Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director, Mussa K. Dankwah. It was conducted using a combination of web-based, telephone and face-to-face interviews, covering 13,495 respondents across 83 constituencies. The survey has a confidence level of 99 per cent and a margin of error of ±1.1 per cent.
