The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has commended health workers nationwide for their dedication and resilience, describing them as the backbone of Ghana’s healthcare system.
In an end-of-year message, the Minister expressed deep appreciation to doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, administrators and other frontline workers for their selfless service, often delivered under difficult conditions.
“As we draw the curtains on the year, I extend warm greetings to all citizens, particularly our hardworking health professionals across the length and breadth of the country,” he stated.
Mr Akandoh noted that despite ongoing challenges, the year was marked by strong commitment and renewed efforts to strengthen Ghana’s health system. He said the government had taken deliberate steps to improve access to quality healthcare, enhance health financing and prioritise the welfare of health workers in policy decisions.
He reassured health professionals of government’s commitment to addressing issues relating to conditions of service, logistics and outstanding obligations, adding that continuous engagement with relevant institutions would ensure fair and sustainable solutions.
The Minister also encouraged citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles and actively support national health programmes aimed at disease prevention and health promotion.
He concluded by wishing all Ghanaians a peaceful end to the year and a healthy, prosperous New Year, while calling for unity, progress and good health for the nation.
