The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboah, on the 2 January, 2026. together with the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, Millicent Yeboah Amankwah, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Asante Boateng Esq., officially cut the sod for the construction of the Abisu CHIPS Compound in the Sunyani West Constituency.

Addressing residents at the ceremony in Abisu, Mr. Akwaboah said President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of turning Ghana into a “construction site” is steadily becoming a reality, as roads and other critical infrastructure projects across the country are being constructed and rehabilitated using Ghana’s own resources rather than borrowed funds.

He noted that the ongoing projects in the Bono Region reflect the government’s commitment to grassroots development and improved access to essential services.

The Regional Minister commended the Sunyani West Assembly for prioritising health and security infrastructure, describing the Abisu CHIPS Compound as a vital project that will improve healthcare delivery and enhance the wellbeing of residents in the area and surrounding communities.

MP for Sunyani West, Millicent Yeboah Amankwah, highlighted recent reforms in local government financing, announcing that the District Assembly Common Fund has been decentralised, with 80 per cent of the fund now going directly to assemblies to undertake development projects.

She further disclosed that President Mahama has directed that every constituency must execute at least one developmental project each year, a policy she said will accelerate development at the local level and ensure equitable distribution of national resources.

Residents and local leaders welcomed the project, expressing optimism that the Abisu CHIPS Compound will significantly improve access to primary healthcare services in the constituency once completed.
