The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted thirty (30) police officers in recognition of their exemplary performance during intelligence-led and operational duties that led to major security breakthroughs in the Ashanti Region.

The promotions, announced on Monday, January 5, 2025, followed successful operations that resulted in the interception of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.

According to the Police Administration, the promotions are a reward for the officers’ professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to duty.

Officers promoted in connection with the Kantanso Asankare operation include Chief Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel, G/Lance Corporal Saeed Frimpong, G/Constable Sremsei Simon, PW/Constable Kissi Dorcas Serwaah, G/Constable Arthur Emmanuel Nkrumah, G/Constable Dennis Danquah, G/Constable Philip Lawer Nyarko, G/Constable Owusu Kenneth, and G/Constable Christian Buaben Kwadzo Addo.

During the operation, the officers conducted a thorough search of a passenger bus at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier and uncovered two concealed containers holding 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.

A further search revealed a bag hidden under the driver’s seat containing two bulletproof plates, a black crushed helmet, and a pair of long boots.

In addition, twenty officers from the Intelligence Units of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their roles in related intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, and surrounding communities.

These operations led to the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery activities, and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters during the festive period.

The IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their courage and alertness, stressing that their swift actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of criminals.

Mr. Yohuno urged all personnel of the Ghana Police Service to continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties, assuring them that the Police Administration remains committed to recognising and rewarding hard work and dedication.
