Dr. Adams Bonaa, Executive Secretary of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps Authority (NSACA), has reassured stakeholders in the Volta Region of renewed efforts to recover all illicit firearms as part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety and curb gun-related violence.

Speaking during a Gun Amnesty training and stakeholders’ engagement in Ho, Dr. Bonaa highlighted the commitment of security agencies to track down and retrieve illegal weapons. He emphasized that the operation would be both intelligence led and community driven. He also pledged a reward amount undisclosed for informants who provide useful information on individuals hiding illegal firearms.

The engagement, held under the theme “Silence the Gun to Save Our Lives,” brought together Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), security officials, traditional leaders, and civil society actors. The programme aimed to strengthen trust between communities and security agencies while promoting the Gun Amnesty initiative as a non-punitive avenue for voluntarily surrendering illegal firearms.

The Dean and DCE for Adaklu, Jerry Ameko, pledged the full support of local government authorities. He assured that MMDCEs and other stakeholders would actively champion the campaign at the grassroots level to ensure its success.
