The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akwatia by-election candidate, Kwame Asumadu, has called for peace and unity ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.
Speaking to the media after a walk to mobilize support in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr. Asumadu urged Ghanaians and NPP members to reject violence, bitterness, and division before, during, and after the primaries. He stressed that leadership is ordained by God and must be grounded in unity rather than chaos.
According to him, the strength of the NPP lies in its ability to remain united, especially as the party prepares to elect its flagbearer. He called on members to place the party’s collective interest above personal ambitions.
Some NPP members who participated in the walk said the exercise was aimed at energizing the grassroots and fostering unity within the party. They noted that the call for peace is particularly important in healing internal divisions following the party’s defeat in the September by-election.
