The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals in connection with alleged SIM box fraud activities at the Sakumono Ramsar Site in Accra.

In a statement, the police said the arrests were made on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations in residential apartments in the area.

The suspects have been identified as Timileyin Fakunle, 30; Begun Adedeji, 31; and Olamide Roheemot, 28. Police said they were apprehended in separate apartments.

A search of the premises led to the seizure of sophisticated electronic gadgets, SIM boxes, and numerous SIM cards believed to have been used in the alleged fraudulent activities.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed the existence of two other accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently at large.

They also disclosed that the alleged ringleader, Tomy, a Chinese national who remotely controls the SIM boxes, remains on the run.

The Police said they are collaborating with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to safely remove and technically examine the seized equipment to support ongoing investigations.

The suspects are currently in police custody.

Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against renting or subletting premises to unknown individuals without conducting proper background checks.

Property owners and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and telecommunication-related offences in the region.
