The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has intensified fire safety education activities across the Ashanti Region as part of sustained efforts to reduce fire outbreaks, particularly during the dry season.

In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), the Service said the regional outreach, conducted in January 2026, targeted a wide range of institutions and groups, including health facilities, public gatherings, commercial centres, newly posted National Service personnel and hotel staff.

The initiative forms part of GNFS’s broader strategy to promote public awareness, preparedness and early response to fire incidents.

At Devine Grace Clinic in Effiduase, fire officers educated health workers on key fire prevention measures, safe use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), good housekeeping practices and the proper handling of fire extinguishers.

In Kyekyewere, the Boamang Fire Command used the commissioning of a water project as an opportunity to sensitise residents on electrical safety and bushfire prevention. Officers also promoted the “Operation One House One Fire Sticker” initiative and shared emergency contact numbers to ensure swift response in the event of a fire.

Meanwhile, shop owners at Asokore Mampong were advised on safe electrical practices and cautioned against overloading sockets and extension cords.

Fire officers further assisted traders to identify potential fire hazards within their shops.

Similar fire safety education sessions were held for newly posted National Service personnel and staff of Four Siblings Hotel at Asokore.

These engagements included practical demonstrations, with participants assured that all emergency services provided by the Ghana National Fire Service are free of charge.

GNFS said the continuous public education drive is aimed at preventing fires and safeguarding lives and property across the Ashanti Region.
