Free Zones Authority climaxes Chocolate Week with Exhibition and Industry engagement

The Ghana Free Zones Authority has climaxed its Chocolate Week celebration with a product exhibition and stakeholder engagement aimed at promoting Ghana’s cocoa and chocolate industry.

The event formed part of the Authority’s 30th anniversary activities and its participation in National Chocolate Week celebrations, organised under the theme “Celebrating Ghana’s Cocoa Heritage the Free Zones Way: Taste, Learn and Enjoy.”

Delivering welcome remarks, Musah Sibiri Hamidu, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration, explained that the Authority observes the celebration annually as part of activities leading to National Chocolate Day on 14 February. This year’s expanded programme aligned with both institutional anniversary events and national cocoa promotion initiatives.

He noted that the climax of the week’s activities featured exhibitions and interactive sessions designed to showcase the contributions of Free Zones enterprises to cocoa processing and export development. The exhibition highlighted achievements within the sector while providing staff and invited guests the opportunity to taste a variety of locally produced cocoa products.

According to Mr. Hamidu, the initiative supports value addition in Ghana’s cocoa industry by promoting enterprises operating under the Free Zones Programme and strengthening partnerships with media stakeholders to enhance visibility of the Authority’s work.

The event also hosted cocoa processing companies whose operations contribute to export growth, employment creation, and expansion of Ghana’s value chain. Participants were encouraged to engage exhibitors, explore product displays, and take part in chocolate tasting and interactive activities organised as part of the celebration.

Mr. Hamidu expressed appreciation to exhibitors and media partners for their participation, noting that their involvement added value to the programme and helped project the achievements of the Authority and its partner enterprises.
