The President and Founder of the Accident Victims Support Foundation (AVSF), Reverend Cyril Crabbe, has expressed deep sorrow and concern following the tragic fuel tanker accident that occurred over the weekend on the Accra-Nsawam Highway in the Eastern Region.
According to reports from the Ghana National Fire Service and other emergency responders, the incident resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries after a fuel tanker was involved in a serious crash and subsequent fire outbreak.
Describing the development as heartbreaking, Reverend Crabbe said the incident serves as yet another painful reminder of the dangers present on Ghana’s roads, particularly those involving heavy-duty vehicles and fuel tankers.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones and with those currently receiving medical treatment,” he stated.
On behalf of AVSF, he extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and called for strengthened road safety enforcement, stricter monitoring of tanker operations, and intensified public education on road safety and emergency response.
The Foundation, he noted, stands ready to offer psychosocial support, advocacy, and collaboration with relevant authorities to assist affected victims and their families.
Reverend Crabbe further urged all road users to exercise maximum caution, obey traffic regulations, and prioritise safety at all times.
AVSF emphasized its commitment to championing safer roads and supporting victims of road traffic accidents across Ghana.
