The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to disregard a resurfaced viral video involving a TikToker, Laura Aba, over an alleged police search incident, explaining that the matter was investigated and resolved in 2023.

In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, April 15, following renewed circulation of the video on social media, the Police said the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) received a complaint on Sunday, April 12, 2026, regarding the reappearance of the footage on TikTok.

In the video, the lady, identified by the handle Laura Aba, alleged that police officers attempted to search her bag without her consent and insisted on escorting her to the Nungua Police Station.

Investigations by the CVET revealed that the incident dates back to September 2023, when officers from the K9 Unit, during a routine stop-and-search exercise, attempted to inspect her belongings.

She reportedly declined, citing a previous negative experience with the police.

To ensure transparency, the officers escorted her to the Nungua Police Station, where the search was conducted under the supervision of a senior police officer, after which she was discharged.

The Police further indicated that the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) subsequently took over the case, conducted a thorough review, and brought the matter to a close.

Findings from the PPSB, which were made public, established that the officers acted within their legal mandate, particularly in escorting the individual to a nearby police station for the search.

The Ghana Police Service has therefore advised the public to disregard the video, stressing that the issue was conclusively addressed in 2023.
