The bout between Self acclaimed African Mayweather, Braimah Kamoko AKA Bukom Banku and Bastie Samir was supposed to be a mismatch, at least on the evidence of the pre-match touting of both boxers which Bukom Banku clearly won but it wasn’t to be as Bastie Samir disciplined Bukom Banku in the ring and ended his unbeaten run.
Bastie, is the new darling boy of Ghana boxing after that sensational performance against Bukom Banku but in truth, he was virtually unknown in Ghana despite his exploits in the ‘noble art of self-defence’ from his amateur days to his professional career.
Born on the 19th of May, 2017, 31-year-old Bastie Samir’s first step towards the top was in 2017 when he won the African Championships in the welterweight division in May 2007. Later that year, he won silver in the welterweight division at the 2007 All Africa Games.
He qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in the light heavyweight division after jumping two weight classes and he was the captain of Ghana’s boxing national team, the Black Bombers but began his professional boxing career in the USA.
Bastie hails from the Northern part of Ghana but grew up in the boxing Mecca of Ghana, Accra.

Prior to the bout against Bukom Banku, Bastie had a record of 16 fight, 15 wins and a draw which he improved to 16 wins and 1 draw from 17 fights.
Bastie was a sparring partner for legendary American boxer Floyd Mayweather and his sparring helped the undefeated pound-for-pound king to win crucial bouts against Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez.

Coached by astute boxing trainer Ofori Asare, Bastie has opened up for a rematch with Bukom Banku.
