Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region has insisted that the suspension slapped on the deputy Sports Minister Pius Hadzide and Acting Director General for the National Sports Authority Robert Sarfo by the president Nana Akufo-Addo is not ‘enough’.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Enam Hadzide had yesterday 12th April 2018 been suspended by the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, following reports linking him to visa racketeering for the Commonwealth Games in Australia, resulting to a supposedly 60 citizens being deported from Australia
Speaking on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, the former sports minister commended the president of the republic but yet called his action as a non-starter.
“President Akufo Addo’s move and action regarding the visa scandal is good but we are not happy. Nana Addo must take action on Hon.Isaac Asiamah by ordering him also to step aside because he is the sector boss and Hon. Enam Hazide reports to him.”
“He did what the minority in Parliament is demanding. We asked that they provide us with the full list and profile of each person of the deportees if they didn’t send constituency chairmen, women, secretaries, and foot soldier to Australia,” Hon. Nii Lante quizzed.
Meanwhile, he expressed lack of confidence in the Police CID who is responsible for the investigation into the matter.
“We don’t have confidence in the police CID under the watch of His Excellency Nana Addo. This Nana Addo government is going to shield politicians and punish civil servants, and that is why we want this visa scandal issue to be taken away from the untrusted police CID. Some Politicians and some top people in the current NPP government are involved in the visa scandal and not the civilians. They are keeping genuine journalists in both the police and immigration custody respectively, and the corrupt ones are freely walking around,” he alleged.
