It was a dramatic scene at Manhyia Palace on Wednesday as NPP executives went on their knees close to 45 minutes asking for forgiveness from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Controversial member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Appiah popularly known as ‘Appiah Stadium’, disclosed on happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show.
According to him, John Boadu was in Kumasi to campaign but as custom demands, Mr Boadu went to the Palace to secure Otumfuo’s blessing in his bid to secure confirmation as General-Secretary of NPP ahead of the party’s national executive elections but Otumfuo was restless upon the arrival of the entourage.
“Sammy Awuku and John Boadu entered the Manyhia palace to greet the Ashanti king, but Otumfuo was infuriated when he saw,” he said.
Explaining why the Ashanti King was outburst to see the NPP officials at the Manhyia Palace, “Asantehene said that Gabby Otchere Darko and Asante Bediatuo are pitching him against the Akyems and trying to create enmity.”
The entourage fell on their knees including some bigwigs of the party to soften the King’s anger, praying for forgiveness at the open court of the Manhyia Palace.
The infamous NDC ‘Serial Caller’ who became well known for his incessant attacks on top members of the NPP on radio says he is very enthused because if this happened to the opposition the ruling party would not let sleeping dogs to lie.
