The German-born actor Umar Krupp who is a director and an actor for several movies including ‘Amakye and Dede’, blames Kumawood for the falling standards in the Ghanaian Film industry.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on e. TV Ghana’s ‘Late Nite Celebrity show’, Umar who lashed out at Kumawood emphasized that the nature of movies produced by Kumawood is appalling.
He added that Kumawood has messed the Ghanaian Movie Industry up with their bad pictures and technical team, though they have good story lines.
“Movies produced by the Kumawood guys cannot stand competition when the need arises. The language spoken in Kumawood movies which is Twi it makes it difficult to be sold on the international market for Ghana to be placed on the map.”
“They killed the industry and we are cleaning it up, so if you don’t understand you can go and burn the sea.”
Umar Krupp won four awards in the just ended Golden Movies award.
