The Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA), has entered into a four year agreement with the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU), to promote, develop and strengthen university sports activities and projects in Africa.
The Mauritius based Badminton Organisation for Africa has agreed to promote and contribute to the development of student Badminton competitions through the All Africa Universities Games and other FASU Badminton Championships or Competitions.
The MOU was signed in Mekelle, Ethiopia on the side of the 9th All Africa University Games being hosted by Mekelle University.
Mr. Sahir Edoo, Secretary General of BCA who signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of BCA, disclosed that BCA and FASU have agreed to the inclusion of FASU activities in BCA competition calendar and for the results of such activities to be published on BCA website and other official communications.
Dr. Malumbete Ralethe, FASU President, who signed on behalf of FASU, was excited that the MOU firms up several months of discussion with BCA and becomes FASU’s first ever cooperation agreement with a Continental Sports Federation in line with the FASU General Assembly resolution (March 2017) to seek cooperation and partnership with continental sports federations.
Dr. Malumbete disclosed that BCA would provide technical assistance, relevant Badminton rules and competitions data as well as training for students.
He noted that the cooperation would be extended to the national level through BCA’s members and the National University Sports Associations under FASU.
