Political science lecturer at the Methodist University, Dr. Osei Bonsu has cautioned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to fulfill their major campaign promises or risk losing the 2020 general election.

Speaking in an interview monitored by happyghana.com, Dr. Bonsu said there are three major campaign promises the NPP would have to work on in order to secure their victory in 2020.

‘’The government have to work on 1D1F, one village one dam and the free SHS policy. Although the free SHS is being implemented, I will encourage government to resolve the challenges confronting the policy,” he said.

He added that, majority of Ghanaians will not vote for the NPP when theses promises are not fulfilled. “If government is unable to satisfy these people, I am not sure they will vote for the party in 2020.’’

“Ghanaians will not also hesitate to retain them in power if these promises are fulfilled,” he opined.

Dr. Bonsu also revealed that, the NPP may have satisfied some Ghanaians but there may others who will not be satisfied because the government has not been able to fulfill the promises based on which they voted for them [NPP].

He used the opportunity to encourage voters to question the promises made by politicians in order to hold them accountable. Some of the promises by politicians he said are impossible to be done hence the need for voters to subject politicians to scrutiny when they promise to do something on various campaign platforms.
