Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Ablema Afeku, has called on Ghanaians to act as ambassadors for Ghana, by being courteous to foreigners who would visit the country prior to the 2018 All African Music Awards (AFRIMA).

Addressing the media at a press conference in Accra on Monday, Madam Catherine Afeku charged Ghanaians, and especially patrons of the 2018 AFRIMA, to put up the best of behaviour before, during and after the event and act as ambassadors of Ghana.

“I would entreat each and every one of us [for this very week] to be extra courteous to support our guests. Those who may be encountering you may ask questions. Let us all be ambassadors of our nation because we are putting Ghana on the map,” the Tourism Minister said.

This, according to Madam Catherine Afeku, would serve as a platform for Ghana to display her Pan-Africanism, and promote Ghana on the international market.

“We are going to showcase the Pan-African credentials of our nation through music, culture and at the end of it all, the world [starting with Ghana] will take us very serious that arts, culture, entertainment is big business,” she added.

The 2018 AFRIMA seeks to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. The four-day event, according to the event organizers, is packed with various activities about the creative arts.

The award ceremony scheduled for Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre, AICC, Ghana will feature events from Tuesday, November 20 to the main event itself.
