Asante Kotoko have been handed a walk-over to the next stage of the CAF Confederations Cup after the game with Cameroon side Edding Sports was cancelled.

The Confederation of African Football called off the fixture following the late submission of a club by the Federations of Cameroonian Football (FECAFOOT).

Edding Sport were supposed to represent Cameroon in the CAF confederations Cup after winning the 2016/17 Ligue 1.

The decision was arrived at after Asante Kotoko refused to push the fixture to a future date.

Edding Sports were supposed to Lion Blesse in the Cameroon FA Cup final for a ticket to the competition.

However, with the final being played just three days to face Kotoko, Edding Sports were elected to represent Cameroon.

But on Saturday CAF announced Asante Kotoko have been handed a walk-over following the delaying in submission a representative by FECAFOOT.

“Matches #37&38 are cancelled, because the deadline for FECAFOOT to confirm the engagement of second rep. for Total CAF Confederation Cup has elapsed. Asante Kotoko is therefore qualified to the 1/16th round,” CAF posted on Twitter.
