Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder result: WBC heavyweight title fight ends in a DRAW in LA

Ace Ghanaian ring announcer and boxing analyst, Mohammed Amin Lamptey has described the results of the WBC heavyweight title bout between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury that came off over the weekend as a “stolen verdict”.

Undefeated defending WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder faced undefeated challenger and former WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO, Champion Tyson Fury at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California Over the weekend.

The fight ended in a split draw with the scorecard at 115–111 for Wilder, 114–112 for Fury (which was incorrectly announced as 114–110), and 113–113.

Analyzing the outcome of the bout on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, experienced boxing journalist, Mohammed Amin Lamptey described the result of the bout as a stolen verdict. In his view, Fury did enough to win the fight although he was knocked down twice during the bout.

“If you look at scoring system which was used, and the fight that happened, I don’t see how that fight should end in a draw or I don’t see how someone will say Deontay Wilder should have won the fight. For me Tyson Fury did all he could to have won the fight and he has won the fight.”

He further explained that, the knockdown Fury suffered should never have had any effect on the outcome of the fight as many are claiming.

“The knockdown has nothing to do with the decision. Because if you look at the scoring system, when you win a round, the winner gets 10 and the loser 9 and when you are knocked down, it’s 8 for the loser and 10 for the winner. So that would have never had any effect on the results. Fury dominated the fight and even the Canadian judge had it right,” he deduced.

Meanwhile, Fury wants a rematch with Wilder to take place at Old Trafford.
