National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has revealed that 15 girls under the double track system of the Free Senior High School (SHS) program in the Ashanti Region have been sacked from school because they became pregnant.

Ofosu Ampofo addressing flagbearer hopefuls who submitted their nomination forms at the Party headquarters in Accra on Monday December 17,2018. said

“From only one school in the Ashanti Region, in one term, 15 girls have been sacked as a result of teenage pregnancy.”

According to the leader of the NDC, because of lack of infrastructure, the said school is forced to  put “young girls and young men in hostels without supervision.”

The Nana Addo led government adopted the temporary system, which began in some 400 Senior High Schools in the country to cater for increased enrollment under its flagship free Senior High School program, due to a deficit in infrastructure.
