On this day 31 December 1989 (Exactly 29 years years ago)

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko played a 2-2 draw in a 1989/1990 League match (also 31st December Revolution Cup Match) in Accra.

NB: In the 1989/1990 League season, a win in the regulation time of 90 minutes fetched 3 points; victory in a penalty shootout after a drawn game gave a bonus point.

Superstition or Disrespect?
Kotoko’s Sarfo Gyamfi refused to shake hands with the Head of State Flt. Lt. J. J. Rawlings during inspection of the teams. Sarfo Gyamfi was later banned for 8 matches by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for “breaking protocol”.
