The Police in Takoradi is making significant headway in establishing the whereabouts of three kidnapped ladies in Takoradi in the Western Region, Gender Minister, Cynthia Morrison has revealed.

She also disclosed that the Nigerian arrested in connection with the kidnapping Samuel Willis is now releasing more information that she said will be crucial in finding the missing ladies.

“My prayer is that we’ll find these young ones, the culprit has started talking that is what I wanted. I didn’t believe in he would not talk, he has to talk and he’s talking. From here I’m going to see him and then talk to him and see where we can get to. According to him, the girls are still alive, let’s take it from there and we shouldn’t speculate. We should hold on to what he’s said.” Hon. Cynthia Morrison noted after a meeting with the family of one of the missing girls.

Meanwhile, the United States of America and the United Kingdom have announced the deployment of a team of investigators to assist the Ghana Police Service search for the three girls kidnapped between August and December last year in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

This comes in the wake of mounting calls for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service to prioritize investigations into the kidnapping to ensure the speedy rescue of the victims.

Meeting the families

The Director-General of the CID, Deputy Commissioner of Police Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who announced this during separate meetings with the families of the three Kidnapped victims assured the families of the police administration’s commitment to finding the girls.

She urged the families’ and the public to cooperate with the police, saying the team of investigators is seriously working to track the girls and that “it is not all leads picked during the investigation that would be made public.
She said the early rescue of the three;  was not an issue for the family alone but for the entire nation and beyond, assuring them that the police administration is doing everything possible to rescue the victims.

The CID Director-General met the families of the victims separately in their homes and conveyed the sympathy of the IGP and the Police Administration to the families.

The parents were very grateful to the police for the constant interaction by the Regional Police Commander and also the visit by the CID boss, saying it gives them confidence the police attach great importance to the search for the girls.
