The journalist, who is a member of Anas Tiger Eye PI team was shot three times – twice in the chest and another in the neck – by unidentified men on motorbike at Madina in Accra three weeks ago.

Anas, in a tribute to his colleague released a video from a television footage in which the MP was seen and heard encouraging the public to beat him up, claiming Ahmed “ is a bad guy” and that he was ready to reward anyone who did that.

The video stirred controversy with some suggesting Mr Agyapong’s act of putting out Ahmed’s details in the public may have caused his death.

Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak on resumption of parliament Tuesday told the House the Assin Central MP’s conduct has dragged the name of the House into disrepute and must be summoned before the Privileges Committee.

“Mr. Speaker, I make this complaint of contempt of parliament against my own colleague, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong, for the embarrassment and the uncalled-for comments and incitement of the public against a member of the public which was alleged to have led to the death of that person”, he said.

The MP referred to Article 112 of the 1992 Constitution which talks about contempt of parliament and argued Mr. Agyapong’s actions was clearly in breach of that for which reason he wants the him brought before the house for questioning and possible sanctioning.

He also noted that while the action of Mr Agypong also have criminal implications, which the courts must deal with, the code of conduct of Parliament must also be applied on him by virtue of the fact that he is a member.

Mr. Mubarak also referred to the MPs’ oath which they swore before assuming office, reiterating Mr. Agyapong’s actions are in contravention with that oath and the laws of the country at large.
