Former vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie -who travelled with Asante Kotoko to Zambia to support the team-, has thrown his support behind Kotoko FC coach C.K. Akonnor

Speaking to the media at arrival hall of Kotoka International Airport, Mr. Afriyie said Kotoko’s management should not think of sacking C.K. Akonnor because the man has done a tremendous job for the team and needs to be maintained.

“Personally I will edge Asante Kotoko management to retain CK and even give him a more enhance contract. If you listen to CK, he knows what he is doing and I will endorse him any time, any day,” he said.

The aspiring presidential candidate for the GFA also edged the media and supporters to excise patience for the former Black Stars skipper.

“Kotoko fans should have patience for the man. I will call on the supporters, especially the media. Sometimes most of these things would be pushed through the media. A single supporter cannot get his voice heard but if it is aided by the media why not. I will plead with the media and the Kotoko fans to give C.K. Akonnor more time because he knows exactly what he wants to do and he knows what he wants to achieve for for Ghana football and Kotoko,” George Afriyie added.

The Porcupine Warriors confirmed C.K. Akonnor on 1st October, 2018 as new head coach after signing a three-year deal.
He took over from Paa Kwesi Fabin, who resigned in September last year.

CK had only a month to prepare for the CAF Confederations Cup after signing 12 players, yet he was able to qualify Kotoko for the Group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup after 11years
