On this day 27 March 1996 (Exactly 23 years ago) Brazil hammered Ghana 8-2 in a Pre-Summer Olympic Games international friendly match in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Substitute Batista de Abreu Marques hit a hat – trick (55,88,90+3), with a goal each from Luiz Carlos Goulart Luizao(9), Jose Marcelo Ferreira ‘Zero Maria’ (16), Savio (Penalty 47), Andre Luis (Penalty 52) and Vitor Borba Ferreira Rivaldo (78).

Tony Yeboah (49) and Daniel Addo (83) scored for Ghana.

Brazil Line-up : Nelson Dida, Nascimento Dos Santos Aldair, Flavio Concecaio, Luiz Carlos Goulart Luizao, Vitor Borba Ferreira Rivaldo, Savio (Baptista de Abreu Marques) Alexandre Da Silva

On this day 27 March 2011 (Exactly 8 years ago) Goals from Prince Tagoe, Dominic Adiyiah and substitute Sulley Muntari gave Ghana a 3-0 away win over Congo in their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifying Group I match played in Brazzaville, Congo .

Tagoe struck after just five minutes, his Partizan Belgrade team mate and strike partner Adiyiah scored on 30 minutes and Muntari came off the bench in the second half to seal a convincing victory for Ghana . It was a second win in three qualifying games for Ghana.

On this day 27 March 1942 (Exactly 47 years ago) Joe Louis KOs Abe Simon in round 6 to retain the Ring and lineal world heavyweight boxing title at the Madison Square Garden, NYC.

On this day 27 March 1983 (Exactly 36 years ago) Larry Holmes beats Lucien Rodriguez by unanimous decision. Retained WBC, the Ring, and Lineal heavyweight boxing titles at the Watres Armory, Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA.

On this 27 March 1977 (Exactly 42 years ago) American tennis star Chris Evert won her 4th and final WTA Tour Championship 2–6, 6–1, 6–1 against England’s Sue Barker at Madison Square Garden, NYC.
