Chief Executive Officer of E-ZWICH, Chief Bishop Frederick France, has charged sports associations to rekindle the glory days of sports in the country.
He urged the associations to view sports as a patriotic mission and a national pastime for the growth and development of the country.

“Sports, as an integral part of our country, must be cherished. A nation which does not engage in sporting activities is not a civilised nation,” he said after swearing in the new executives of the Greater Accra Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Businessman, Dominic Beblie, was sworn into office as the president of the federation, with Elvis Kosi Alipui as Vice.
The other members of the Greater Accra executives are Prince Andre Dorni- Leiku, Public Relations Officer; Lucy Larteef, treasurer; Philip John Quartey, administrator and Kwame Larweh as a marketing executive.

The rest are Alfred Quarshie, technical director; Philip Tetteh Martey, organiser; Elizabeth Tetteh and Millicent Edu as secretary and executive member respectively.

Iddrisu Ewuntomah, Greater Accra Sports director, made it clear to the newly appointed executives to look for their own source of income to run their activities in Greater Accra.

“I will entreat you not to rely on government or the Greater Accra Sports Directorate for any source of financial support. Seek your own source of funds as times have changed and you are to act independently of governmental interference,” he noted.

He however pledged his outfit’s support for the new federation and promised to liaise with the federation to spread Jiu-jitsu in Greater Accra Region.

The Public Affairs Director of the National Federation, Bernie-Johnson, challenged the new executives to help promote the sport and encouraged them to spread their tentacles to attract more people to the game while creating awareness about the discipline.
