Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has reneged on his earlier stance not to honour an Accra High Court order to appear in a case brought against him by the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
The court on Tuesday morning, presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, asked lawyers of the MP, who is standing trial for tax evasion and procurement allegations, to make him available to the court by 1:00 pm when he had failed to show up.
The MP turned down an invitation by the Special Prosecutor over corruption probe involving him.
According to the MP, he will not be able to attend to court on the said date because parliament will be in session and he will therefore be working for his constituents.
The Special Prosecutor has sued Mahama Ayariga for abusing his office among other offences.
