MMTL redirects buses to ease Accra transport crunch

MMTL redirects buses to ease Accra transport crunch Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) has reduced some of its intercity bus services to focus on intracity operations in Accra, aiming to ease transport challenges in the capital. This move involves scaling down long-distance routes, such as those to Kumasi and Cape Coast, to allocate more buses to high-demand intracity routes like Adenta, Kasoa, Amasaman, and Nsawam. The decision follows directives from the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to support private transport operators during peak hours. MMTL is currently operating with a limited fleet of 115 buses, down from over 1,000 when it started in 2004, but is working to maximize available resources. This initiative aims to boost MMT’s operations, improve service coverage, and reduce congestion pressures in major urban centers. “We are committed to improving transport services in Accra and ensuring that our buses are deployed where they are most needed,” said an MMTL spokesperson. The public is encouraged to take advantage of the enhanced intracity services, and MMTL apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the reduction in intercity services.

Richie Mensah reveals secrets about MUSIGA

Award-winning music producer, Richie, has stated that he is not happy that Shatta Wale’s ‘My Level’ song won Highlife song of the year at the just end Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The Lynx boss asserted that though Ghanaians voted massively for the ‘My Level’ as the Highlife song of the year at the VGMA 2019, he thinks the VGMA board erred by placing ‘My Level’ in that category.

In an interview with DJ Advicer on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’, Richie said “Sometimes when you see that your artiste doesn’t win or your favourite artiste didn’t win, just realized that, other artistes’ fans voted more than your fans. it is basic as that.

According to him, the VGMA board has 30 percent, Academy has 30 percent and the fans -which is the largest- has 40 percent.

He opined that “I don’t think putting ‘My level’ under highlife category is okay but unfortunately the system allowed it to be by creating the chance for people to vote as many times”.

Asked if he will choose ‘My level’ as highlife song if given the opportunity, he said “No I don’t think that song should have been in the Highlife category. I don’t think ‘My Level’ is a highlife song”.

“I think is a beautiful song. I think it is one of the biggest songs in 2018.But I don’t think it a highlife song. I think it should have been in a different category. I think it Afro-pop”.

However, Richie’s Lynx Entertainment record label has produced MzVee, KiDi and Kuami Eugene. Richie has some two great albums to his credit. He also has some hit singles like ‘Yaaro’, ‘Asa Fofro’ and ‘Frema’ among others.
