Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Databank Ghana, Kojo Addae-Mensah has expressed his disappointment at the management of Asante Kotoko for sacking their head coach, Charles Kwablan Akunnor after he qualified the team to the 2019/2020 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League.

Media reportage revealed that the Dr. Kwame Kyei administration asked CK Akunnor to step down and take up the position of technical director of the club which CK rejected.

Speaking to Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’, the staunch Asante Kotoko fan bemoaned.

“I am really surprised and worried about Kotoko management’s decision to sack CK Akunnor. The structure with which we are running KOTOKO is not the best in 21st-century football”.

“I can’t understand this decision so management must come out to explain this decision to the public. Left to me, we should maintain CK Akunnor. He has achieved a lot of success for the club. He qualified us from the confederation cup, and won laurels locally too”.

“I think something happened and management is hiding behind this idea of making him a Technical Director which CK declined. This Ashgold coach they want to bring, what has he done at Ashgold?” he quizzed

According to reports, management of the Porcupine Warriors are already in talks with AshantiGold and Norwegian coach Kjetil Zachariassen and former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu as a possible replacement by close of work today.
