The Executive Secretary to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo who retired voluntarily from the Police Service to contest as a parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Wa West Constituency of the Upper West Region has asserted that every security personnel in the country has affinity to a political party.

According to him, he has followed politics for over a decade but it has never affected him as service personnel for his 25 years service in the police. “I make sure I deliver my duties as a policeman professionally.”

Speak in an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, the former Police officer said, “Following politics for over a decade now has never affected my service in the police, I make sure I discharge my duties as a policeman professionally without being biased. Every police personnel belongs to a political party but you don’t have to be biased in discharging your duties. If those in the security agencies do not belong to a political party why do we allow them to vote.”

He also revealed that he did not resign from the police service to join active politics to enrich himself.

Superintendent Tuubo is challenging veteran politician Joseph Yieleh Chireh for the slot.

He will also be among 46 people who have picked up nomination forms to contest in the parliamentary primaries in all the eleven constituencies of the Upper West region.

The former Police officer became famous following a viral video in which he was seen chastising drivers for willingly offering bribes to police officers and for his presentation on corruption within the police service and how the public perceives personnel of the service which went viral on various social media platforms
