The former Minister of Communication, Edward Omane Boamah has been severely criticized by the Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu Juaben, Yamoah Ponkoh for his comments against his Royal Highness Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Twitter.

Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh was speaking in an interview with Nana Afrifa Mensah on the “Epahoa Daben” show on Happy FM when he said:

“Omane Boamah has hurt the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with his comments. He has given the rival party something to use against John Mahama. It was not right for him to criticize the Otumfuo, a man of high calibre in public.”

Dr.Omane Boamah is said to have criticized the Otumfuo on Twitter, where he wrote: “Big men too can lie! Oh Ghana! Ahead of election 2020, expect more lies against John Mahama.”

His assertion was in connection to Otumfuo’s claim that Former President John Mahama only conceded defeat in the 2016 elections through his [Otumfuo’s] intervention. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was addressing the United Nations (UN) Conference when he stated:

“At the conclusion of the last Presidential and Parliamentary elections, the country stood on the edge of disaster. The UN community and the diplomatic corps were aghast and alarmed that Ghana was about to slip down the slope of electoral violence. Fortunately, the moral authority of the Palace was at hand and we were able to intervene to persuade the losing candidate to accept his fate and to fly both candidates for a quiet encounter to pave the way for a smooth handover.”
