Sports journalist and Host of Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Busuo’, Ohene Brenya Bampoe, has been elected as one of the new Executive Members of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).

The SWAG novelty e-ballot was held across the country on Saturday 5th October, 2019 with Ohene Brenya getting a landslide victory and a slot to serve on the Executive Committee Board of the association.

Four (4) candidates contested for an available two (2) slots on the Executive Committee Board and at the end of polls Ohene Brenya Bampoe got the highest votes of seventy-eight (78). He was followed by Otuo Acheampong B Boadaa with sixty- five (65). The only lady who contested in the elections Helga Gokah placed third with forty-eight (48) votes with Moses Antwi placing fourth (4th) with forty-five votes.

In expressing his gratitude towards members of the association, Ohene Brenya Bampoe said ‘’I am grateful to the members of SWAG for giving me this mandate and I will serve diligently’’ he said.

On his part, the Programmes Manager of Happy FM, Mr. Emmanuel Akrumah, congratulated Ohene Brenya Bampoe on his win. He said ‘’ That was an impressive win for Brenya and as a brand we wish him luck as he serves on the SWAG Executive Committee Board’’ Mr. Akrumah said.

Kwabena Yeboah whose unopposed candidature was overwhelmingly endorsed with a total of a hundred and fourteen votes (114) votes. Maurice Quansah, the Vice President of the association who also went into the elections unopposed enjoyed a hundred and ten (110) endorsements.

Charles Osei Asibey was also elected as the General Secretary of SWAG with ninety-eight (98) votes with his Deputy General Secretary, Thomas Boakye-Agyeman garnering one hundred and two (102) votes. Ms Rosalind K Amoah was re-elected as the treasurer of the association after receiving a total of a hundred and eight (108) votes to reaffirm her position.
