Multiple award-winning songwriter and gospel reggae singer, Akesse Brempong has disclosed that Ghanaian gospel music is the benchmark for international acts.

According to the recording artiste, he recently realised how big Ghanaian gospel music was on a trip to South Africa.

“Even in the eyes of those recognized as top artiste internationally, Ghanaian music is highly regarded. They respect and look up to our music because our creativity and content,” he told host of Happy FM’s ShowbizXtra Doctar Cann.

He recounted how surprised he was when he was recognized by one of the topmost gospel musicians on the continent, Benjamin Dube. “I was in south Africa 2 weeks ago to do a live  recording for Halala Afrika. I represented Ghana on that platform and had to perform with other international acts. I was surprised Benjamin Dube of South Africa recognized me first when he entered the room. I never thought he would know me.”

He added that most of these top artiste are looking at Ghana for collaborations.

On his authority, contemporary Ghanaian gospel acts are breaking grounds internationally and should keep on churning out Spirit filled music.
