The Head of Public Relations at the Conference of Heads of Private Second Cycle Schools, Kyei Baffour has requested the government to reconsider the implementation of the Free SHS policy to include private schools.
He was speaking in a phone-in interview on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show when he stated: “Free SHS has collapsed private schools .When students in public schools used to pay fees, people enrolled in private schools because of marginal difference in school fees paid between private and public schools. But now, everyone is moving to the public schools because of Free SHS”.
According to him, it is better for private schools to be under the Free SHS policy as public schools than for these schools to collapse.
Earlier this year, the Education Minister speaking on the involvement of private schools in the Free SHS policy maintained that any collaboration with private schools on this policy will require more time and engagement.
