President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is urging journalists in the country to embark on a fact-checking tour to find out if ‘One District, One Factory’ promise he made during the 2016 general elections is not being fulfilled.

The president during the “Meet the Press Encounter” responded to criticisms that not much is being seen in the government’s much-talked-about ‘One District, One factory’ promise. He produces a list of 58 factories that are operating.

The president said, “You are journalists. You can go and check for yourselves if I am lying or telling the truth.
There is another set of 26 factories that should be operational by the first quarter of 2020.”

He added that his political commitments made in 2016 are not “just paper gimmicks”. He, however revealed how he is confident about his government passing the accountability test come 2020.

Meet the Press Encounter is an occasion for the President to give a mini-state of the nation ahead of the main event early in 2020.

For the journalists, it is a platform to pep and punch the President with all the pertinent questions concerning issues of national concern.

Today’s encounter is the third since his assumption of power as the 5th President of the Fourth Republic.
