Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President, Ben Nunoo Mensah together with the President of Women in Sports Ghana, Joyce Mahama, paid a visit to Ghana’s Fencing team as they prepare for the African junior and Cadet championship slated for 24-29 February 2020 at University of Cape Coast.

The Ghana Fencing team has been camping for the past two months preparing for the championship and the team has promised to win medals for the country.

The competition will see 18 countries participating in the championship.

Some of countries expected to grace the occasion are Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria Nigeria, Mali, Senegal and others.

During the visitation, the GOC presented some soft drinks and charged the team to do well in the championship.

“I will encourage the team not to lose hope and give their best in the championship. If the people who are supposed to appreciate you so that you can practice God given talents don’t, it shouldn’t discourage you”, he urged the team.

President of the Ghana Fencing association, Mohammed Mahadi appreciated the visitation and thank the president for the support.

“We want to thank the GOC for the support given us but we will plead for more support before the tournament starts”.

The Ghana Fencing Association is expected to launch the championship in the coming days.
