01/5Is alcohol healthier than exercising?

While we have more health-related theories than objects floating in space, here is another one that has struck all news headlines recently. According to a recent research, alcohol has revitalising, anti-ageing powers and is one of the biggest secrets to a healthy and long life. While most of us would always want it to be true, it does sound bizarre for a while. But here’s what the study says:

02/5What study says?

According to the study presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, two glasses of beer or wine in a day can significantly reduce your risk or early death. The study stresses that it is even better than exercising for your body!

03/5The result

To reach this conclusion, the team of researchers studied and analysed data from the 90+ study which was conducted at the UC Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders. This study was about people who had lived beyond 90 years and their lifestyles that lead to such longevity of life. It was found out that people, who were consuming 2 glasses of wine or beer every day, reduced the risk of premature death by 18 per cent while the pothers who were exercising could reduce the risk by 11 per cent.

04/5The researcher’s take

While the presentation was detailed, it has been duly mentioned that there is no written explanation for it, but the researcher firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity.

05/5Takeaway

The study clearly gives us a picture that if had in moderation, alcohol can be your best friend and you can have it minus the guilt. But, we should not base our views on just one study as most researches claim otherwise.
