Most Ghanaian industry equipment cannot sustain our sound - Dark Suburb

Ghana’s first enviable rock band, Dark Suburb has disclosed that they do not play a lot of shows they are invited to because most sounds in Ghana cannot sustain their style of music.

According to the band, “rock is as loud as it is soft” and they need good sound engineers and other equipments to support their stage craft.

Speaking in an interview on Happy98.9FM’s Ayekoo After Drive, the five man band revealed that, ” some equipment cannot sustain our sound. Most shows in Ghana use a Dj set but booking Dark Suburb requires some equipment and set up for which organizers wouldn’t risk and that is a reason we don’t mostly perform at shows organized by other parties.”

“Even some sound engineers cannot and do not understand our sound making it difficult to work with them,” they added.

On their authority, the problems they face with sound is a major reason they organize and play their own shows.

The group which won the Unsung category in the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards  (VGMA) has produced great songs including ‘EgoBe’, ‘I Dey Feel You Die’ and were featured on Wiyaala’s Mama track.

Dark Suburb consists of anonymous talented musicians [guitarist, pianist, drummers, and singer] who wear masks as a form of identity and stand for social justice.
