Barclays Bank Ghana has held the first engagement session in 2020 for its Business Club Clients as the bank prepares to change to Absa Bank Ghana on February 10, 2020.

The session which took place in Accra was to inform members of the Business Club and business owners who are customers of the bank, about the launch of Absa in Ghana. It also accorded the bank an opportunity to educate the Business Club and business owner about Ghana’s tax regime, whiles giving them a 2020 outlook on the country’s economy.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Anim-Yeboah, Business Banking Director at Barclays Ghana, said all is set for the official unveiling of Absa to Ghanaians, something that we have anticipated eagerly since the process of transitioning started three years ago.

“Over the past year we have been sharing with you our transitioning journey from Barclays to Absa and we have now reached the crescendo. On February 10th, Absa Bank Ghana Limited will be a legal entity in Ghana. We are taking banking to new heights in order to support the growth of businesses as well as Ghana’s development,” Mrs. Anim-Yeboah told the customers.

She highlighted some of the benefits of joining the Barclays Business Club saying it is to give customers additional value on banking services for customers.

For his part, Mr. Lawrence Hotsonyame, a Senior Lecturer at the Ghana Revenue Authority Training School, who educated customers on Ghana’s tax laws, urged business owners to take advantage of the opportunities and incentives provided in tax laws.

Mr. Hotsonyame, also took the gathering through some key tax topics such as tax reliefs, tax exemptions, tax filings, tax holidays, tax extensions among others.

Earlier, Mr. Kobla Nyaletey, Director of Global Markets for Ghana and Nigeria at Barclays Bank, indicated that Ghana’s economic outlook for 2020 is positive and government policies and economic activities are directed towards making sure that there will be more funds for banks to provide financing for businesses.

The Barclays Business Club initiative enables SME clients to benefit from capacity building and business operations training programmes as well as trade trips, business advisory services, loyalty rewards, business networking opportunities among many others.
