President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized that anyone who is charged with corruption regardless of position or political affiliation will be dealt with under the laws.
In his speech at the fourth State of the Nation Address before Parliament, he said: ‘I will like to repeat that if evidence of corruption is presented, no one will be spared, regardless of position or political affiliation. No one is above the law. That is the true meaning of equality before the law”.
He furthered that in the last three (3) years, his Government has chalked some successes in the fight against corruption even though “people with questionable records” are skeptical of these significant achievements.
“Some forty or more high profile personalities are currently before the courts on various corruption charges and more are in the pipeline”, he added.
He made known also that with the help of Parliament, few laws have been passed to strengthen the legal framework to fight corruption.
