President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his fourth (4th) State of the Nations address gave credence to the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s assertions that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fulfilled seventy-eight percent (78%) of promises made to Ghanaians during the government’s Town Hall meeting in Kumasi.

‘’Dr Bawumia ended by asserting that seventy-eight percent (78%) of promises we solemly made to the people of Ghana have been or are in the process of being fulfilled. There has, so far, been no factual challenge to his compelling testimony’’ he said.

He also said he will not go back and talk about what Dr. Bawumia has already addressed in his Town hall meeting in Kumasi.
‘’I do not intend to go through all over again the meticulous accounting that was done in Kumasi ten (10) days ago. It is enough to say that it being Dr. Bawumia, everything he said was backed by data and his customary fact-checking’’ he said.

However, the National Communicator of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi, became the talk of social media, particularly Twitter after he descended on the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia over his submissions during the Town Hall meeting in Kumasi. He is reported to have said: “NPP and Akufo-Addo are spending borrowed funds on consumption. President Akufo-Addo and his useless globetrotting activities in 9 months in 2019 this wasteful President spends Ghc63 million on foreign travels.”

The president is enjoined by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution to deliver a message on the state of the nation at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before its dissolution.
