Underrate coronavirus at your own peril – George Quaye

Showbiz personality and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Image Bureau, George Quaye is saying that Ghanaians should take the safety protocol measures provided by the government and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic seriously.

According to him, the lockdown declaration by President Nana Addo in a late-night live broadcast yesterday is a step in the right direction and anyone who underrates the deadly virus does so at his own peril.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra with Doctar Cann, he said “This is not the time for one to say we don’t have this, that and there is a lockdown. Spain alone, look at the number of people that died in a day over 600 a day. If it were to be Ghana you and I could be part who knows?

He also added that the time we are living in is not a normal time so we have to pray “We have to pray and observe the safety protocols. Make sure you wash your hands under running water, use your sanitizer, stay home to save a life and we will all be safe.”

Commenting on the spike of essential goods he said “it’s normal because in economics we have something we call demand and supply. So at this time, it’s normal but they should be careful with the pricing because the consumer is also wise.”

Some parts of the country effective Monday will go under lockdown as directed by President Nana Addo. A lockdown is typically an emergency protocol that a state uses to prevent people from leaving a particular area.

As of Friday, March 28, 2020, Ghana has recorded 137 confirmed cases.
