Ghana’s pioneering urban radio station, YFM yesterday brought entire Ghana to a standstill with its maiden edition of the Y Clash of the DJs which eventually saw Y-Accra (107.9FM) totally eviscerate their competition Y-Kumasi (102.5FM) and Y-Takoradi (97.9FM) to be crowned supreme on the turntables.

YFM-Accra’s reputation was upheld in grand style by DJ MicSmith, DJ Loft and AD DJ who scored an almost perfect score of 96.5% to win the cash prize of GH₵3,000. YFM-Kumasi’s 2nd position was secured by a team made up of DJ Bongo who was a real delight to listen to, DJ Carcious and DJ Lexes with 89.5%. YFM-Takoradi’s trio, DJ Gunshot, DJ Edita and DJ Suraka also represented well and scored 75.5%.

The competition which was part of activities by YFM to keep Ghanaians entertained online despite the lockdown placed on the country amidst the COVID-19 outbreak had the DJs competing in five thematic areas and a free style session.

The DJs trilled fans with terrific tunes from R&B, Contemporary HipHop, Afrobeats, Throwback, Mefri Ghana and the freestyle session which got twitter birds tweeting incessantly.

Winners of the YFM Clash of the DJs, Y-Accra’s hotsquad had this to say after the results were declared, “It was a great competition and we had a lot of fun competing with our colleagues from our sister stations in Takoradi and Kumasi. It was not an easy night but we must say the best team won. We’re looking forward to the next edition.”

Programs Manager for Y-Acrra, Eddy Blay Jnr speaking on behalf of all three Program Managers in the triangle said, “The maiden edition of the Y Clash of the DJs was a blast because of the immense support we received from listeners and sponsors. It was an amazing virtual experience which will live on forever. ”
