A specialist physician in sports medicine, Dr Prince Pambo, has advised Ghanaians especially those in the football fraternity to heed to President Nana Akufo Addo’s directives to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

‘Speaking on the “The Effects of COVID-19 on Sports’ which held via zoom and aired live on Etv.Ghana and GTV sports plus, Dr. Pambo said “Ghanaian authorities must take the COVID-19 more seriously. “From a medical point of view, the situation is serious and we must take action because it looks like the world is shutting down.” The event was aimed at bringing together key resource persons in the sports fraternity to discuss the challenges the sports industry is faced with as the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to ripple through the sports fraternity.

He added that “this pandemic is not leaving overnight, of course, we are praying for a miracle [to bring an end to the spread of COVID-19] as we are doing that, we must also as a country heed to the President’s call and directive to help curb the spread of the virus in the country.

Earlier in the outbreak of the virus in the country, the Physician suggested that the immediate resumption of football to fit the GFA July date of ending the season is not recommended even if the spread of the virus was limited.

The GFA scheduled to end the 2019/2020 season on July 26, 2020.
