Hearts of Oak Managing Director, Frederick Moore, has disclosed that no Ghanaian club can survive on gate proceeds for its administration.

Hearts of Oak are among clubs in the country that generate a lot of revenue from gate proceeds during match days especially when they face their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in any competition.

Despite the huge revenues generated, Federick Moore says clubs cannot settle on just revenues on match days to run the club.

Discussing the effects of Covid-19 on Ghanaian clubs with Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya, he said, “No football club can survive just with gate proceeds but also need support from government and corporate Ghana”.

“In terms of revenue, Hearts of Oak has lost about two-thirds of its revenue or more. We cannot quantify what we have lost during this period of Covid-19.

“We were supposed to sign partnerships and new sponsorships but they have all been suspended for now. I don’t think there is a club in Ghana that can survive mainly on sponsorship”, he added.

The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak which has rendered the clubs unable to generate revenues from games.
