NDC must renounce violence in 2020 General Elections - NPP China branch

Delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are currently voting for their preferred Parliamentary candidates to represent their various constituencies on the ticket of NPP in the December 7 polls.

However, delegates in Ablekuma North Constituency have refused to vote which led to the suspension of the primaries in that constituency leaving the fate of Akua Owusu Afriyie, John Kojo Agbotey, Kwadwo Poku Adjei-Baruwah and Sheila Bartels in the balance pending the outcome of the suspension.

According to Happy FM’s Odiasempa Kwame Oware, the register, as explained by the delegates, was supposed to be ready a week to the day of voting and made available to delegates for examination. But it was rather brought in by the Electoral Commission official just this morning as voting was about to begin.
‘’The delegates have already reported to the regional executives, so the executives have asked them to hold on until they give the go ahead for Ablekuma North elections to start. For now, everything is at a standstill nothing is happening. It’s the chairman of the constituency who told me about the no voting until further notice directive from the regional executive’’ Odiasempa reported.
The Ablekuma North delegates suspected foul play because according to them, the names of some hundred (104) delegates have been conveniently omitted from the register.

Until the delegates peruse the album to confirm that all the names of delegates are present, they have vowed not to vote in the primary.

A total of three hundred and seventy-four (374) aspirants are contesting in one hundred and sixty-eight (168) constituencies. Out of the number, three hundred and twenty-five (325) are men and fifty-one (51) are women. Sixty-seven (67) of the aspirants are contesting unopposed and would be acclaimed by delegates of the party in the various constituencies.

Voting started around the country at 7 am and is expected to end at 1 pm.
