Parent company of fore runners in broadcasting in Ghana made up of YFM (Accra, Kumasi & Takoradi), Happy98.9FM and e.TV Ghana, Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), has officially launched the month of July as Automobile month.

The month of June has being dedicated to educate listeners on issues of Financial Literacy as part of GMABC’s themed month series. The various brands of the company will hold educative and informative discussions on ways one can properly manage their finances and increase their sources of income.

The month long celebration was launched today on the various GMABC platforms [YFM (Accra, Kumasi & Takoradi), Happy98.9FM and e.TV Ghana].

Head of Marketing & Sales of GMABC, George Amponsah speaking at the launch of the Financial Literacy month on the Happy Morning show with host, Samuel Eshun stated that the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) one (1) and two (2) aims at removing poverty and hunger. And with everyone understanding financial literacy, these goals can be achieved.”

“The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the livelihood of many Ghanaians. We saw many Ghanaians being fed by the gov’t during the lockdown period. But through the series on financial literacy, we can help listeners to find a sound footing for the fast approaching Christmas period. We believe highlighting on the importance of savings will help us achieve our goals.”

Emphasizing on the recent cases of Ponzi schemes in Ghana, George Amponsah noted that it has become very necessary for GMABC to take listeners through a crash course in financial literacy. “We need to enlighten listeners about accredited financial institutions and also educate them on the savings ratio. Ghanaians need to understand that it takes little drops of water to make an ocean and the same principle applies to savings and investments,” he added.

He proceeded to give a breakdown of the weekly activities to be carried both on air and on digital resources of all the brands under the GMABC umbrella for a period of four weeks.

“In week one, we will look at banking and savings in general. We will focus on the various accredited banking and non-banking financial institutions in the country and also support this with budgeting and investment advice.”

The second week will focus on the sub theme, financial products and investments where there will be explanations on the differences between investment, savings and insurance. Listeners will also be educated on the various types of investment and how to spot investment opportunities.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, most Ghanaians have moved to using electronic money for their transactions. The third week of the financial literacy month series will focus on how e-money transactions can be used for seemless transactions whilst respecting COVID-19 restrictions.

He noted that climaxing the financial literacy month on the fourth week, the GMABC brands will hold a webinar on financial inclusions with sponsors who will take listeners through fun tips on savings making the discipline easier for them. “There will be cash prices awarded during this period. After these sessions listeners will be encouraged to call in and answer to random questions from the webinar and win for themselves amazing prizes.

The Head of Marketing & Sales urged companies who want to be a part of the GMABC Automobile month through one form of sponsorship of the other to contact the team on 0202222095 or 0242884571 for further enquiries.
