The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Akwatia constituency, Ernest Yaw Kumi has appreciated former parliamentary candidate and sitting MP of Akwatia constituency, Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Sey with a heartwarming message via radio.

Contrary to the notion that there may be bad blood between the two following the results of the NPP primaries at Akwatia, Ernest made it known that they are in good terms.

Speaking to Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he revealed that even though his efforts to reach Ama Sey has been to no avail, he has spoken to her husband to iron out lingering issues between them after their parliamentary primaries.

In his submission he gave out the message he has always wanted to tell Ama Sey. “We appreciate her as an MP and we want to continue with her good works. We are all serving the country. It is not a fight. She must calm down. If she wants to contest again in four years’ time, the party will give her the chance to contest just as how I also want to contest. She should calm down. We beg her to calm down and join us in our victory”, he said.

Addressing rumors that Ama Sey is going independent, he expressed that even if the rumors were true she has the chance to contest in Ghana’s democratic dispensation. Nonetheless he advised that Ama Sey must put all differences aside and join the party to win the seat.

Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern Region, Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly called Ama Sey, rejected the results of the ruling NPP parliamentary primaries in the Akwatia constituency as she complained that there were electoral malpractices during the voting process.

The incumbent who lost to Ernest Kumi is rumored to be contesting as an independent candidate in the Akwatia constituency come December 2020 polls.
